The event, which commenced at the Bamrauli Air Force Station in Prayagraj at the break of dawn, bore witness to heartfelt greetings from leaders across the nation.

The day’s festivities commenced with a spectacular parade and fly-past at the Bamrauli Air Force Station in Prayagraj, beginning at 7:45 am. Later in the day, an extravagant airshow was scheduled over the Triveni Sangam, kicking off at 2:30 pm. This breathtaking airshow showcased a dazzling lineup of fighter aircraft, including the Sukhoi 30, MiG 29, Rafale, Jaguar, and more. The renowned Akashganga team also displayed their fearless aerial stunts. Thousands of spectators gathered at the Sangam, eager to witness this historic event unfold.

The celebrations had already been set into motion with a full-dress rehearsal in Prayagraj on October 6, building anticipation for the main event. The day’s highlights included the ceremonial parade and a captivating aerial display over Sangam later in the afternoon.

Indian Air Force Day is special because it remembers when the Indian Air Force officially became a part of India’s armed forces in 1932. Every year, the Indian Air Force chief and senior officers come to this event to honor the history and sacrifices of this amazing force.

Indian Air Force (IAF) History:

The Indian Air Force, originally formed as a supporting force of the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom in 1932, established its first operational squadron in 1933. Throughout its storied history, the IAF has played pivotal roles in major operations, such as Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Cactus, and Operation Poomalai, since 1950.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his warm wishes, saying, “Greetings and warm wishes to all Indian Air Force personnel and their families on the occasion of the #91stAnniversary of this amazing force. We are proud of our Air warriors who play a significant role in keeping India safe. The IAF today is a lethal and formidable force, projecting its air power beyond boundaries. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the IAF, stating, “With its wings of steel and the heart of courage, the Indian Air Force has fervently secured the nation’s interests during war and peace. On this auspicious occasion, I commemorate the invaluable service and the sacrifices made by them to protect the sovereignty of the nation.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his pride and congratulations, saying, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to the brave warriors of the Indian Air Force and their families on ‘Indian Air Force Day’!
